The Sentiero Azzurro (“Blue Trail”) is the most famous hiking path in Italy’s Cinque Terre, connecting the five stunning seaside villages: Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. This cliffside trail offers breathtaking views of the Ligurian Sea, dramatic coastlines, and charming village scenes. Whether hiked in full or in sections, it’s the perfect blend of cultural immersion and natural beauty.

Suggested 2-Day Itinerary (Full Sentiero Azzurro)
🟩 Easy to moderate difficulty – most accessible with short climbs and stone steps
🥾 Day 1 – Monterosso to Corniglia

Monterosso → Vernazza (approx. 3.5 km | 1.5–2 hrs):
Climb out of Monterosso through lemon groves and terraced vineyards.
Breathtaking views as you approach Vernazza – one of Italy’s most beautiful villages.
Stop for gelato or lunch on the harbor. -
Vernazza → Corniglia (approx. 4 km | 1.5–2 hrs):
A slightly more rugged section with incredible coastal panoramas.
Corniglia sits on a clifftop and is the only village not directly on the sea.
Optional: sunset aperitivo at a panoramic wine bar.
🌙 Overnight in Corniglia or return by train to base town (e.g., La Spezia or Monterosso)
🥾 Day 2 – Corniglia to Riomaggiore
⚠️ Note: Some sections of the trail (especially Corniglia–Manarola–Riomaggiore) may be temporarily closed due to landslides. Alternatives are available.

Corniglia → Manarola (currently via alternative high trail: ~5 km | 2.5 hrs):
Ascend through terraced hills and descend into Manarola via panoramic trails.
Option to visit the church square and enjoy local white wine (Sciacchetrà). -
Manarola → Riomaggiore:
Via dell’Amore (the famous “Lover’s Lane”) is often closed. When open, it’s an easy 30-min walk carved into the cliffs.
Alternative: high panoramic path via Beccara Pass (~1.2 km | steep climb, 1 hr)
🏁 Finish in Riomaggiore – enjoy seafood cones, harbor views, or a swim!
